ECG TRACING

Definition

An ECG tracing is the paper or digital strip displaying electrical activity over time across multiple leads. Intervals (PR, QRS, QT), axis, and morphologic changes help identify conduction delays, arrhythmias, or ischemic patterns. For underwriting, access to the actual tracing can clarify automated interpretations and document baseline rhythm compared with prior studies, improving cardiac risk assessment and offer accuracy.

Common Usage

Underwriters sometimes request the actual tracing when automated interpretations are inconclusive. Advisors obtain PDFs from medical portals and upload them with cover letters. Comparing tracings over time can prove stability after a transient event, strengthening arguments for a better rate class or reconsideration after treatment.
